Graphing is a way to encourage critical thinking skills, language development, and self-expression as well as practice daily math skills. These cards can be used with children of varying age levels and abilities. For preschool children, the teacher can announce the topic for the day and name the pictures on the cards. In time the children will begin to learn to associate the printed word with the photo on the graphing card. Older children up to fourth grade can also benefit from daily graphing, especially when they can use the data from the graph to write word problems. Daily graphing can also benefit second language learners as they use the picture cards to learn new vocabulary. You can also use the graphing cards for classroom management or to divide children into groups based on their choice on the graph.
